Beurger’s Disease (Peripheral
Vascular Disease PVD) and Diabetic Foot Ulcers (DFU):
ISSL offers a unique form of therapy using autologous (patient’s
own) adult stem cells. The safety and efficacy of the treatment
has been proved. Results from India’s first and the world’s
second-largest clinical trial for the use of autologous bone
marrow stem cells for treating PVD have been published in the
renowned Journal of Vascular Surgery (Dec 2008). Clinical
improvement was observed and amputation became unnecessary in
more than 90% of the patients. Not a single incident of adverse
event was observed. Till date, we have been successful in
preventing limb amputation in more than 100 patients with PVD.
